A New Season, A New Chapter: Eclipse + Equinox Musings

I don’t know about you, but this year it felt like autumn arrived early.
Maybe it was that sudden chill in the air here on the 1st of September, or just how different the energy felt after the summer months — but something shifted. Quickly.
And while meteorologists will tell you autumn begins on 1st September, astrologically and spiritually speaking, it’s the Autumn Equinox that truly marks the change.
This year, the Autumn Equinox lands on 22nd September at 19:19 BST.
A moment when the Earth tilts just right — neither towards nor away from the sun — and day and night stand in almost perfect balance.
It always feels like a quiet turning point.
A pause. An invitation to slow down, reflect, and listen to the whispers of what’s next.
And this year, that whisper feels louder than usual.
The mornings are cooler. The evenings softer. Something’s shifting.
Astrologically speaking, it’s been A LOT.
This year has been filled with retrogrades — the outer planets, the big ones, have been rewriting the long game. And the last few weeks especially? Eclipse season has had its way with us.
We started with a New Moon in Virgo at 0 degrees, a powerful Pisces Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse, and now an upcoming Black Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo at 29 degrees - Oommph.
(BTW, a Black Moon refers to the second new moon in a month - like how a Blue Moon refers to two Full Moons in a month cycle).
This cosmic cocktail has stirred the pot. Many of us have been asked (or forced) to release what no longer serves — old habits, outdated patterns, versions of ourselves we’ve outgrown.
So ask yourself:
✨ What have you let go of?
✨ What space have you created for something new to take root?
This weekend’s new moon, eclipse, followed closely by the equinox, offers a beautiful threshold. A moment to pause between endings and beginnings, to honour what’s passed, and to step intentionally into what’s coming.
Maybe you’re feeling grounded and clear.
Maybe you’re completely upside down.
Maybe you're just trying to stay afloat.
You’re not alone.
From conversations in our community, it’s clear — many of us are navigating big transitions. Endings in relationships, identity shifts, sudden changes. It’s tender. It’s exhausting.
It’s also — somehow — necessary. There have been magical resets and life changing new beginnings with these changes. A reminder of where these endings are heading.
As one friend put it, “I’ve started chanting ‘it’s all for a higher good’ like a mantra… through gritted teeth and a slight recurring twitch.” (Relatable.)
And we haven’t even mentioned what’s going on in the wider world.
So, if you're able to carve out some time this Equinox, let it be for you.
Light a candle. Breathe.
Journal what’s been, and what’s becoming.
Reshape your altar.
Walk in nature.
Cry. Rest.
Celebrate the season — on your own or in the comfort of others.
Personally, I’ll be with a beautiful bunch of women in ceremony for Equinox, and also moving my life back to London — stepping into a new chapter across nearly every aspect of my existence. So yes... I’m very much in it too.
Equinox feels like the perfect time to honour where we’ve been and where we’re going.
So wherever you are, however you're feeling —Take a breath. Take a moment. Find Gratitude. And carry on.
With love,
Rach x
