Sacred Geometry of the East + West

Plants grow in perfect order, the planets circle above us in harmony, sound waves oscillate sequentially, and the rhythms and cycles of the atmosphere swirl around us. These patterns are all interconnected and manifest everywhere in seen and unseen realms. What is this formula? Find out a in series of drawing meditations this August.

Working with traditional tools of compass and straightedge we will draw profound patterns that have been central to traditions across the world. These forms offers us a tangible connection with nature and a Divine source, and the gradual process of building/drawing them is an elevating and transformative experience.

Patterns in Nature ~ Golden Spiral

Wednesday ~ 7-9pm ~ 2 August

Geometry (earth-measure) is central every world tradition and a direct connection to the forms and movements of nature.

Everything exists in one harmonious system and the key to realizing and appreciating this unity lies in nature itself in the form of the Golden Spiral, also known as the ‘Divine Proportion’. The Golden Spiral is one of the logarithmic spirals and its distinctiveness lies in the fact that it has Phi (golden ratio) as its growth factor.

Humans have an innate attraction to order and symmetry. We can all relate to patterns, tracing them in our movements, habits, and rituals. The human body is a prime example of symmetrical geometric perfection.

What to expect:

• The workshop begins with a brief contextual talk exploring the connections between the patterns found within the natural world and solar system. 
• Then, through geometric drawing, we investigate the principles that control the evolution of pattern over two dimensional space.

About Adam:

Adam has a passion to share the remarkable world of Sacred geometry. He has spent a lifetime training in pattern making and ornamental decoration from masters around the world from Malaysia to Morocco.

Adam has written multiple books on the subject of sacred geometry and runs international study trips taking people all over the world to research sites with sacred geometric significance.

The patterns presented within his work have been gleaned from his travels, studies of ancient monuments, and research with world masters.

Adam has been a sessional lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London and given workshops and public lectures at many leading cultural institutions in the UK and beyond, including the The British Museum, Cambridge University, The British Library, The V&A Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, New York University, Spotify (NY), and MIA (Doha, Qatar).

He has been commissioned by clients including HRH the Prince of Wales, NYU, Spotify USA, Oxford University, Shakespeare’s Globe London, Kew Gardens, Westminster Abbey, the British Council, the Foreign Office in Vienna.
